However, busy lives, less space and gaps in knowledge have led to a decline in this ethos. This is where we come in!
Here at ANH Artisan, we believe that given the opportunity, a bit of guidance and the space to have a go, anyone can fix that broken chair, clean up that rusty hand plane or build that perfect shelf to fit the awkward corner. No need for expensive machinery or huge industrial workshops, just a bench, some hand tools and a bit of knowhow.

How to get started
The Make, Mend Maintain bench space idea is simple - we provide the space, the tools and the guidance to help you to make something, to mend something or to maintain somthing. The rules are simple, no machines (both as tools and as projects), be safe and be creative!
Absolute beginner? Book a course
Book one of our 1 or 2 day hand tool woodworking courses where you get an in depth introduction to basic hand tools perfect for household woodworking and get to grips with a toolkit that will soon become as indispensable in your home as a hoover or lawnmower!
Got the basics covered? Hire some bench space
Our bench space hire is an accessible and easy to book workspace for you own projects. If you own your own hand tools great, bring them along, if not you can hire some fantastic high quality handtools from our tool box. If you are still unsure you can add on a workshop assistant to your booking where you can get help and guidance on joinery techniques, where to start and crucially fixing any mistakes!
